Amadeo de Jesús Rodríguez Aguilar, resident of San Rafael Las Flores, Santa Rosa, and member of the Committee for the Defense of Life. A local anti-mining activist against the operations of Tahoe Resources' El Escobal silver mine, Mr. Rodriguez has been accused of kidnapping security personnel during an October 2011 event where stockholders visited the mining site. The San Rafael Mine, 60% owned by US-based Tahoe Resources and 40% by Canadian mining giant Goldcorp, has been operating since 2011 without having previously consulted the local residents - a violation to numerous international conventions.
