Goldcorp's Marlin Mine in San Marcos

Marlin Mine's electric transmission posts and cables are located next to Gregoria Crisanta Perez' home in the hamlet of Agel. In June 2008, eight Mam Mayan women from the hamlet of Agel were issued arrest orders and accused of sabotage after causing a short circuit that interrupted the Marlin gold mine's operations. Since, many have been in hiding due to fear of a fair trial. The women claim Goldcorp had no right to install the massive electric power line structures in their land plots.
